Mara “Mars” Ramirez is an interdisciplinary artist and educator from the San Francisco Bay Area. In 2018, they co-founded Freak Comics Collective, and in 2020 they joined efforts to organize Soft Screen, an experimental animation screening series and social practice. In their own comics and animations, they play with abstraction and the action of mark making as a means of distorting & clarifying their own experiences through the filter of emotion and memory.
